My Purpose:

After viewing my website, I hope you are more aware of what you put in and on your body and how it could impact your health and surroundings. We must stop the use of chemical-based sunscreens to prevent an environmental or health crisis. I hope that you will make simple changes like using safe UV-protection methods to help stop this issue. It is also crucial that we bring more attention to the issue to have lawmakers enact bans on chemical-based sunscreens.

Chemical-based sunscreens harm the environment.

Chemical-based sunscreens can rub off of consumers’ skin into waterways. The compounds negatively impact aquatic life like fish and coral. In fish, it can cause reproductive issues, and it can bleach coral. Due to its effects, many places have already passed legislation banning its use.

Chemical-based sunscreen can cause serious health issues.

Active compounds found in many chemical-based sunscreens can accumulate in consumers' bodies over time, causing hormonal disruptions and decreased fertility. Many sunscreens also contain carcinogenic chemicals such as benzophenone, even if they are mineral-based, so it is important to carefully check the labels for any hazardous ingredients.
